Baby Shower #2

A few family members got together for a small shower earlier this month. We are so grateful for all the gifts we got and for the family taking the time to plan the shower! Scarlett wanted to open all the gifts and was very excited, shouting "aww, that's so cute!" at everything we opened!

These diaper babies were so cute! A rolled up diaper, swaddled in a washcloth with a sock as a hat. :)

36-37 Week Pregnancy Update

We're almost there! With just a few weeks left, baby could arrive any minute. I have one more week of work left. Then I can rest and prepare before baby arrives. Working during the holiday season has been exhausting, physically and emotionally. Now, we are visiting the doctor once a week, which has also been frustrating since this time of year they close early or are closed on holidays, making it difficult to schedule appointments. I've been feeling the "nesting" that everyone talks about and was expecting. This time it's a bit different. With Scarlett I felt the need to clean and organize everything! This time, I feel the need to organize my schedule and tasks. I'm more in the mood to hide from the outside world of crowds, holiday shoppers, family, etc. Even though I know most people mean well, I'm just ready to stay in my "nest" and wait for the baby to arrive. I'm annoyed with people constantly asking when I'm due, what I'm having, or if we have a name. And to answer that, NO we don't have a name. Baby will have a name eventually, but we can't decide on anything yet. I need to see her before deciding. I'm also annoyed with people saying my belly is too high, too low, too this or too that. My belly is the way it is and that's that.

Most appealing foods/cravings: Chic Fil A fries, coffee, yogurt, brownies

Baby Shower #1

A few weeks a go a few of my coworkers threw me a small shower. They were so thoughtful in putting so much effort into all the little details. They have been great people to work with and have also become great friends of mine. We got together in a local Italian restaurant, had dinner and lots of cupcakes. We played a few games and decorated bibs. It was a great time!

29 Week Pregnancy Update

It just hit me that January isn't too far away and there are still a few things to prepare! I have been feeling well, nothing too out of the ordinary. Just the usual tiredness at the end of the day and having to take more bathroom breaks. I still have a lot of energy, and I actually feel better when I am up and walking around doing things. I have been experiencing more back and rib pain, but it happens more when I'm sitting or not as active. We have the things we will need right away, such as the car seat and a place for baby to sleep. I am really enjoying having a doula. She has been very helpful and has provided us with lots of useful information about the birthing process. Scarlett is getting more and more excited! I have a feeling she will be a great helper. We still haven't decided on a name. I don't think we'll be able to decide until we see her.

Most appealing foods/cravings: coffee, Chipotle veggie bowl, rice, desserts

Must haves: Leggings. I tried wearing jeans today and ended up changing before we left.

Pumpkin Patch Photo Shoot

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go outside and take some Fall themed photos of Scarlett last week when it was still warm and beautiful out.

24 Week Pregnancy Update

We are cruising along! Since the last update, we had a gender reveal party with our families and hired a doula. We have also started making baby purchases like a carseat and stroller. We are working on rearranging the bedrooms to make room for baby. The baby is constantly moving, especially late at night when I'm trying to sleep. I can no longer button my pants, so I have been wearing a belly band or using the hair tie method.

Most appealing foods/cravings: peanut M&M's, ice cream, cake, apple dumplings

Pregnancy must haves: pregnancy pillow, bra band extenders, belly band

Scarlett's First Day of Preschool

We officially started at home preschool this week! The September curriculum is all organized and ready for us to dive into. Scarlett was very excited to go shopping for supplies, and when we got the curriculum package she wanted to start right away. The rest of this month we will be learning about the circus and things that go up in addition to shapes, colors, and some sight words. She practiced writing/spelling her name, drawing triangles and we did a few crafts.

Clown nose and a pizza!

18 Week Pregnancy Update

I've been feeling pretty good for the most part. Thankfully I'm not like some women who have nausea throughout their entire pregnancies. I can eat just about anything without getting sick. I got a leg cramp the other night but it hasn't happened again, although I'm sure it will later on in the pregnancy. I am starting to feel some discomfort while sleeping, which means it might soon be time to invest in a pregnancy pillow. Baby is healthy and growing rapidly. Scarlett is still convinced she is having a sister, while most people are guessing boy. We will find out at the reveal party in a few weeks!

Most appealing foods/cravings: Salty snacks like chips, potatoes (mashed, baked, fries), lemonade, chai latte.

Disney On Ice- Princesses and Heroes (April 2nd, 2014)

It's time for Disney on Ice again. I feel like I just posted the pictures from Disney on Ice last Fall. The Spring show was all about the princesses, which meant we couldn't miss it! Scarlett was so excited, and like last time we went to Hershey's Chocolate World first as requested by our princess.
