Christmas 2013

In a nutshell: We began the festivities by putting up our Christmas tree! Scarlett really enjoyed putting up the ornaments. On Christmas eve we visited family and exchanged gifts. Then, on the 25th we opened gifts at our place with Scarlett. This was the first year we had christmas in our own place, which was very exciting for me! Scarlett received lots of new toys, clothes, and gift cards.

Photo shoot

Earlier this Fall I had a mini photo shoot with Scarlett. Justin got me a new camera for my birthday, and I wanted to test it. She did great and I was able to get some great shots!

Scarlett's Birthday Celebrations (Dec. 8th-10th 2013)

We had everything ready for Scarlett's party on the 9th from the food, cakes, decor, favors, etc., and unfortunately we got a lot of snow. It wasn't safe to be out on the road so we had to cancel. We ended up having separate celebrations. On the day of her party we invited a few people over to Justin's parents' house, but many people didn't make it. The next day when the roads cleared out we celebrated with my family. Then, on Scarlett's actual birthday it snowed again so we stayed in, and later that night we celebrated with her cousins. She had a good time and loved all her gifts! We also had someone who was going to come to her party as Cinderella, so she called Scarlett instead since she couldn't make it. Overall it was a bit hectic trying to figure out what we were going to do since we weren't expecting bad weather.

Scarlett's First Successful Trip to the Movies (Dec. 4th 2013)

We didn't have anything planned for today so I thought I'd take Scarlett to see a movie. Justin's mom tried to take her once before and she didn't do so well. I am so proud of her for doing so well this time around. We watched Frozen. Towards the end of the movie she became antsy, but the theater was empty so she didn't bother anyone. I can't wait to do this again!

Thanksgiving (Nov. 28, 2013)

This year we had Thanksgiving dinner at our place with. It was a bit crowded in our small apartment, but we had a lot of fun. The food was great! It was nice getting together with family, since we're all so busy with our daily lives that we don't get much time together like this. Scarlett was very grouchy towards the end of the night and went to bed quite early. I am looking forward to the holiday festivities coming up!

Disney on Ice (Oct. 16th, 2013).

Last week we took Scarlett to Disney on Ice! This was the first time she had been to an event like this. We were worried that she wouldn't sit still or want to stay for the whole show(roughly 2 hours). She did great! She was really into it, dancing and singing along. Her favorite part was when all the princesses were skating along side their princes.  Since the show was sort of a long drive away and near other attractions we decided to take a day trip. We first stopped at a mall along the way to kill some time. Then we went to Hershey's Chocolate World. Hershey park closed for the season so we just walked around until the show started. She enjoyed seeing all the candy and how it's made. We all had a good time, and it was nice to spend the day together.

Scarlett Got Her Ears Pierced! (Oct. 24th, 2013)

I don't know where she got the idea from, but Scarlett has been saying she wants her ears pierced for some time. We finally gave in and got it done. She knew exactly what she wanted. She had to have the pink, heart shaped earrings!
She had no idea what she was getting into!

Strike a Pose

Scarlett loves the camera. She loves being the center of attention, which is easy for her. She's cute and has an outgoing personality. Even when she's sleeping she's posing!

Dutch Wonderland July 22, 2013

In a Nutshell: We took Scarlett to Dutch Wonderland. It was her first trip to an amusement park, and I'd have to say it was a success. The weather was great (no rain), and she had a lot of fun! Her favorite ride was the "Turtle Whirl."

Justin's Birthday! (July 18-19th)

In a Nutshell: Justin turned 24 on the 19th! I kicked him out for a few hours so I could work on his birthday surprise. I made him a Tardis cake since he's been into Dr. Who. He loved it! We had the cake on the 18th, and on his birthday we went to Pf Changs and did some shopping.

Scarlett's New Do

I thought I'd straightened Scarlett's hair to see how long it is. She looked so cute and was very patient while I styled it. Of course it wasn't long before it curled back up.

Shopping Day (July 8th 2013)

In a nutshell: Scarlett and I went shopping today (Ross and the mall). Let's just say that you can never find anything when you're looking for something specific. All I wanted was a pair of plain denim shorts. I had to settle for a pair that weren't exactly what I was looking for, but close enough. When I got home and tried them on they were too small, so back to the mall I go (tomorrow). Oh don't let me forget that the store was advertising all their shorts at 50% off, but the pair I got were not. Anyway, a lot of the other stores had really good sales, and Scarlett got an outfit too. She kept saying she wants to wear it to the beach.
Scarlett is going through a phase where she doesn't want to get a bath. I was finally able to give her a bath and wash her hair without her putting up a fight. We hope this phase ends soon.
After her bath. Finally, nice and clean!

Nothing Much (July 5th 2013)

In a nutshell: We didn't do much today, just clean up the apartment and run errands. Scarlett and mommy stayed home all day. We played all day and made dinner. We ended our day with some hot tea and princess milk (what scarlett calls strawberry milk).
Scarlett's pretend picnic

Such a good helper :)

Dessert (because last time they turned out more like chocolate cake)

This video is from a few days ago. I thought it was so funny, I had to post it!

July 4th 2013

We started the day off by going to the park. Then we went to a cookout/pool in the afternoon. We left a little early so Scarlett could get a nap in for the day and could stay up for the fireworks. Later that night we went to watch the fireworks in Lititz, which started at around 10pm. Unfortunately, we got stuck in traffic for over an hour after the fireworks were over and didn't make it home until after midnight.

Welcome to "The D List"

Thank you for stopping by our page! I decided to create a blog page for our family to post pictures and memorable moments. Since I'm not very good at keeping up with scrapbooks and photo albums, I thought this would be a good way to keep up with that sort of thing. This page will be like our online album/journal/scrapbook. We'll post pictures, videos, and short writings about our daily activities. I'd like to get the blog printed into a book once we have enough content. :)
